Why have I got damp and mould in my property?
Problems happen. When things go wrong in your home it can become damaging, not only to the very fabric of your house, which is probably the most expensive thing you are EVER going to buy, but it can be damaging to your health both physically, and mentally.
Damp and condensation issues can cause black mould growth which in turn can cause minor health issues if left untreated, the most common problems include:
- Coughing
- Sneezing
- Headaches & Migraines
- Rashes and itching
- Sore throat
- Runny nose
- Nausea
- Eye Irritation
Your mental wellbeing can be affected as many people find the problem embarrassing as walls look dirty or discoloured, you find yourself constantly cleaning and worrying about the problem, depression can also be a factor when you cannot find a solution for the issue.
Sometimes people let it affect their social interactions as they restrict areas of their property to guests or completely stop all visitors from entering their home due to the level of embarrassment they feel over the issue.
Damp and black mould usually go hand in hand, but we have a clear plan on how to help defeat it!
REMOVE:-
Mould or damp infested plaster or wallpaper should be completely removed.
External features that may be forcing water into the property – debris in blocked gutters for example.
EXTRACT: –
Badly installed cavity wall insulation and debris are extracted that may be assisting or causing the water penetration.
Damp air and condensation are removed by upgrading the extract ventilation in your property.
REPAIR:-
Repair external walls that are damaged from weathering, cracks or missing mortar that allows rain to get into the house.
Once dry, internal walls can be repaired by treating with specialist anti-damp/mould additives and plastered / decorated with a clean and fresh new surface.
PROTECT:-
Protect external walls with water repelling and insulating masonry sealant to further protect your home.
Protect your investment by following your Home Improvement Plan regarding moisture reduction to further reduce risk.
